On the night of 31 December 2024, the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation was attacked by drones, and an oil depot is burning as a result of the attack.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Russian media.

Local authorities reported that the fire was caused by an attack by Ukrainian drones on a fuel and energy facility in the Yartsevsky district of Smolensk region.

Later, the governor clarified that the wreckage of the Ukrainian drone had fallen on the territory of an oil depot in the Smolensk region, causing a fuel spill and a fire.
