On the morning of 1 January, air defences were operating in the capital. Russians attacked Kyiv with drones.

A Russian drone attack in the Pechersk district resulted in the partial destruction of the 6th to 4th floors of a six-storey residential building, followed by the fire in apartments on the 4th and 5th floors; the fire was contained to an area of 70 square metres;
"Residents are being evacuated; - one woman was rescued, information about the victims is being established," the statement said.
In addition, a fire broke out on the roof of a non-residential building over an area of 80 square metres;
The windows and doors of the school were smashed, information about the damage and victims is being established.
According to Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, there were three injured in Pechersk. Two of them were hospitalised.
Later, Klitschko reported 4 victims.
"Two of them were hospitalised. Two were treated on the spot. Most of the victims are from the Pechersk district," the statement said.
In the Sviatoshynskyi district, the debris fell on a non-residential area. Cars and garages were damaged. A local fire broke out. A tram line was partially damaged. Information about the damage and victims is being established.
Also in the Sviatoshynskyi district, 100 metres from the tram depot, tram tracks were damaged.
The rescuers are completing their work and road builders will start restoring the tracks immediately. The glass in three trams was also damaged.
Victims of the Russian attack
According to Mayor Vitalii Klytschko, there are three victims in Pechersk. Two of them were hospitalized.
Later, Klitschko reported 4 victims.
"Two of them were hospitalized. Two of them were treated on the spot. Most of the victims are from the Pecherskyi district," he said in a statement.
As of 9:30 a.m., six people were reported injured.
"Six people were injured as a result of an enemy attack on the capital. Two of them are currently hospitalized. Four were treated on the spot. Including a pregnant woman," Klitschko said.
At 11:13 a.m., the Kyiv CMA reported the death of a woman.
"A dead woman was found in a residential building in the Pecherskyi district, which suffered as a result of a morning attack by Russian UAVs, during the rubble removal," the statement said.
According to the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the number of victims has increased to 7, including two pregnant women.
The search and rescue operation continues.
At 11:25 a.m., the head of the KCMA, Timur Tkachenko, reported two dead.
"Unfortunately, we already have two dead. My condolences to the families and friends.
The rescue operation in the Pecherskyi and Svyatoshinskyi districts continues," the statement said
