Unknown persons throw Molotov cocktail at synagogue in Mykolaiv - police
Mykolaiv police are identifying the persons involved in the arson attack on the synagogue door on the night of 31 December.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Mykolaiv Oblast Police.
It is noted that the police received a report that unknown persons had thrown a bottle of Molotov cocktail at the facade of a house of worship in the centre of Mykolaiv on the night of 31 December. The fire was extinguished by the building's security guard.
At the scene, police seized the remains of combustion products and a glass container.
Law enforcers are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in the crime, studying CCTV footage and conducting a range of investigative and search activities.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Mykolaiv District Department have preliminarily classified the incident under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - hooliganism. The article provides for up to seven years in prison.
