Ukrainian MPs have initiated a draft law that would expand the list of persons who may be subject to criminal liability for illicit enrichment.

The relevant draft law is published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, Censor.NET reports.

The Verkhovna Rada has registered draft law No. 12366, which proposes to expand the list of persons subject to criminal liability for illicit enrichment by adding representatives of the liquidated medical and social expert commissions (MSECs), as well as chairmen, their deputies, members and secretaries of military medical and flight commissions.

Under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code, illicit enrichment can be punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with disqualification to hold certain positions. The amended law is intended to ensure a more effective fight against corruption among persons performing state or local government functions.

The draft law is authored by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko, as well as MPs Anastasiia Radina, Volodymyr Tsabal and Viktoriia Siumar.
