As of January 2, 2025, Ukrainian troops control almost the entire town of Chasiv Yar and repel enemy attacks. At the same time, the Russian invaders have gained a foothold in the suburbs across the Siverskyi Donetsk-Donbas canal.
This was stated on television by the spokesman for OSGT Khortytsia Viktor Trehubov, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

According to him, the Russian occupiers have reduced the intensity of their attempts to enter the plant in recent days.
OSGT emphasized that the intensity of the fighting is not subsiding, but the capabilities of the Russian army in this area are somewhat limited.
Heavy fighting also continues in the Toretsk direction.
"Very heavy urban fighting has been ongoing for several weeks now, and I would say that the enemy is essentially bogged down there and trying to find a way out of this situation, although it is extremely challenging for both our soldiers and the enemy. These are tough urban battles, difficult fights in dense urban areas, and there are always casualties on both sides," said the spokesman.
According to Trehubov, in the area of responsibility of OSGT "Khortytsia", the Defense Forces eliminated 1029 occupiers, destroyed 4 tanks, 12 armored vehicles and other enemy weapons and equipment over the last day.
