Over 50 hostile attacks repelled in Pokrovsk sector, 47 attacks in Kursk region over 24 hours - General Staff
In total, 184 combat engagements were recorded at the frontline over the past day, 5 January 2025.

Strikes on the territory of Ukraine
According to the updated information, yesterday the enemy launched three missile attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas using four missiles, as well as 65 air strikes, dropping 99 GABs. In addition, it carried out 5,484 shellings, including 188 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used more than 2,900 kamikaze drones.
The aggressor carried out air strikes, in particular in the areas of Velykyi Prykil, Odradne, Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Hlushkivka, Kivsharivka, Raihorodka, Kopanky, Zarichne, Predtechyne, Kostiantynivka, Dachne, Sukha Balka, Andriivka, Ulakly, Velyka Novosilka, Temyrivka and Novopavlivka.
Strikes on the enemy
As noted, yesterday, the aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Defence Forces conducted twenty-six strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel, destroying four UAV control points, three air defence systems and five artillery pieces of the occupier.
It is also recalled that the total losses of the Russian invaders over the past day amounted to 1550 people. Ukrainian troops also neutralised 14 tanks, 45 armoured combat vehicles, 62 artillery systems, one MLRS, two air defence systems, one heavy flamethrower system, 178 operational and tactical UAVs, 116 vehicles and four units of occupiers' special equipment.
Situation in the Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv sector, two futile hostile attacks took place in the vicinity of Vovchansk.
Four occupiers' attacks took place in the Kupyansk sector over the last day. Ukrainian defence forces repelled enemy assault operations near Zahryzove.
Situation in the east
According to the General Staff, the enemy attacked in the Lyman sector 12 times. They tried to advance near the settlements of Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove, Zarichne, Novoserhiivka and Pershotravneve.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the occupiers attacked seven times in the area of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky and Predtechyne.
It is also noted that in the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out 12 attacks near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka and Krymske.
"In the Pokrovsk sector, our defenders stopped 51 assault and offensive actions of the aggressor in the areas of Yelyzavetivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Solone, Novovasylivka, Novoielyzavetivka and Yasenove.
Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 27 attacks in the Kurakhove sector. The enemy made the main efforts in the areas of Slovianka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove and Dachne," the statement said.
Situation in the south
According to the General Staff, in the Vremivka sector, the enemy made 13 attacks on our positions near Yantarne, Novyi Komar, Novodarivka and in the direction of Kostiantynopil. The enemy was actively using aviation to attack the area.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, the Russian invaders attacked our positions once without success.
Situation in the north
On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy is using artillery and UAVs from the territory of the Russian Federation in the vicinity of Ukrainian settlements.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected.
"Ukrainian defence forces continue operations in the Kursk region. The enemy aircraft is launching strikes with guided aerial bombs on the territory of russia. At present, it is known about eight air strikes with the use of 14 guided aerial bombs and 445 artillery attacks. Ukrainian soldiers repelled 47 attacks by the invading army in this area over the past day," the General Staff said.
The Ukrainian defence forces inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces and actively undermine the enemy's offensive potential in the rear.
