Iceland will support Ukrainian arms production and fight against Russian shadow fleet - Shmyhal
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Icelandic Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir.
The Prime Minister announced this on his telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.
"It is important that the first foreign visit of the representative of the new Government of Iceland is to Ukraine," Shmyhal emphasized.
Shmyhal thanked Iceland for supporting Ukraine's European and European integration path, as well as for its active participation in international initiatives for a just peace.
Particular attention was paid to:
- Iceland's leadership in the Mine Clearance Coalition and the launch of the International Register of Damages.
- Confiscation of frozen Russian assets to compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine.
- Strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation, in particular, combating the shadow fleet used by the Russian Federation to circumvent restrictions.
- Iceland's participation in Ukrainian arms production based on the Danish model.
"We look forward to further increasing investments in the security of Ukraine and the whole of Europe. I invited Icelandic companies to join the reconstruction projects," Shmyhal said.
As a reminder, on Tuesday, January 7, the newly appointed Foreign Minister of Iceland, Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, arrived in Kyiv.
