Klymenko on strengthened patrols and carefully equipped fortifications on border with Belarus

In 2024, reinforced patrols will be introduced on the border with Belarus as part of the Safe Border project.

This was announced on Telegram by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Censor.NET reports.

"In April 2024, the Coordination Center for Integrated Border Management was opened on the basis of the Situation Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Its main task is to display the operational situation at the border 24/7. Special attention is paid to the area on the border with Belarus. Enhanced patrols are working there and all the necessary infrastructure is being set up: fortifications, trenches, shelters, firing positions, and a barbed wire fence. Every meter is under the scrutiny of border guards," the minister said.

According to the minister, this project is an important component of Ukraine's internal resilience plan, which was approved by the President. The project also includes the deployment of a video surveillance system with thermal imagers, air monitoring, and the implementation of European principles of integrated border management.

"In particular, the border guards are now actively using ATVs, off-road vehicles, motorcycles, and testing other types of equipment that can be used during their service," Klymenko added.

As a reminder, Ihor Klymenko recently said that the level of security in the country, excluding military risks, remains at the pre-war level.
