Russian Federation is attacking Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions most, and clashes in Kursk region continue - General Staff
On January 8, 2025, 192 combat clashes between Ukrainian defenders and Russian invaders were recorded.

Strikes on Ukraine
According to updated information, yesterday the enemy carried out 35 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, dropping 62 drones. In addition, it carried out more than five thousand attacks, including 144 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 2,333 kamikaze drones to attack.
The aggressor carried out air strikes, in particular, in the areas of Andriivka, Nikiforivka, Vasyukivka, Markove, Novotoretske, Hrodivka, Pokrovsk, Velyka Novosilka, Komar, Novopil, Lukianivske, Stepnohirsk, Zaporizhzhia, Temyrivka, Novopavlivka, Novoandriivka, and Burhunka.
Strikes against Russian occupants
Over the past day, the missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces struck 11 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, a command post, a UAV control post, two warehouses, and seven other important enemy targets.
The situation in the East
In the Lyman sector, the enemy attacked 17 times. They tried to break into our defense near Nadia, Kopanky, Novoiehorivka, Ivanivka, and Terny.
In the Siversk sector, the enemy made two attempts to attack the positions of our units near Bilohorivka, but the attacks were repelled by Ukrainian troops.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the occupants attacked three times near Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out six attacks near the towns of Toretsk and Diliivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, our defenders stopped 42 aggressor attacks near the settlements of Myroliubivka, Baranivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Zelene, Zvirove, Novyi Trud, Kotlyne and Nadiivka.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 38 Russian attacks. The occupants were most actively trying to advance in the areas of Dachne, Kurakhove, Shevchenko, Petropavlivka, Slovianka, and Yasenove.
In the Vremivka sector, the enemy made 16 attacks on our positions in the areas of Novosilka, Kostiantynopolske, Yantarne, and in the direction of Kostiantynopol.
The situation in the South
Defense forces are making efforts to prevent the enemy from advancing into the depths of Ukrainian territory, successfully repelling three enemy assaults in the Prydniprovia area.
The situation in the North
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 48 invaders' attacks, and the fighting continues.
The aggressor did not conduct any active operations in other areas yesterday.
No signs of enemy offensive groups were detected in the Volyn and Polissya directions.
Losses of Russian troops
Our soldiers inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces and actively undermine the enemy's offensive potential in the rear.
In total, the losses of Russian invaders amounted to 1430 people over the past day. Ukrainian soldiers also neutralized 17 tanks, 16 armored combat vehicles, 36 artillery systems, 86 tactical UAVs, 80 vehicles, and five units of occupiers' special equipment.
