Negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow were planned for the first half of this year, even if Kamala Harris wins the November 2024 election.
According to Censor.NET, CNN reported this with reference to Ukrainian and American officials.
"Administration officials argue that both the US and Ukrainian administrations anticipated that there could be negotiations with Moscow in the first part of 2025 – regardless of who won the US elections," the report says.
Therefore, the purpose of the US assistance was to further empower before potential negotiations.
As a reminder, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the position of the Ukrainian Defence Forces in Kursk region would be important for any negotiations to end the war.
