Trump announces preparations for meeting with Putin - Reuters
US President-elect Donald Trump has said that a meeting is planned between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump said that Putin had expressed a desire to meet, and preparations for the meeting were underway.
"He wants to meet, and we are setting it up," Trump said.
Trump did not name a specific date for the talks, but confirmed that the meeting was being discussed.
"President Putin wants to meet. He has said that even publicly and we have to get that war over with," Trump added, referring to the war in Ukraine.
The Kremlin has not yet commented on Trump's words, but the day before, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that if Trump plans to contact the Russian president after the inauguration on 20 January, Moscow will welcome it.
"If the political will to resume contacts at the highest level remains after he takes office, then, of course, President Putin will welcome it,' he said.
As a reminder, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Ukraine's refusal to continue transiting Russian gas to Europe forced him to go to a meeting with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
