Ukraine is facing shortage of human resources, as draft age is not 18, - Trump’s adviser Waltz
National Security Advisor to US President-elect Donald Trump Mike Volz said that Ukraine faces a serious shortage of human resources because the conscription age is not 18.
The American politician said this in an interview with ABC News, Censor.NET reports.
"Their draft age is now 26 (actually 25 - ed.), not 18. It seems to me that many people do not realize that they can attract hundreds of thousands of new soldiers... When we hear about the moral difficulties and the situation at the front, it is worth noting that if Ukrainians call on the whole world to support democracy all-in, then they should act accordingly," said the advisor to the newly elected US president.
Waltz noted that the United States wants to see how Ukraine solves "the problems of human resources in the war."
"They certainly fought bravely. They've certainly taken a very noble and tough stance, but we need to see how the manpower shortage is being addressed," Waltz said.
He noted that this is not just about ammunition or "writing more checks," but about stabilizing the front line.
Earlier, the State Department said that if the age of mobilization in Ukraine is lowered to 18, the United States and its allies are ready to provide equipment to Ukrainian conscripts.
