Attitudes of Ukrainians towards EU and NATO membership

Ukrainian citizens consider joining NATO a higher priority than joining the EU.

This is evidenced by a KIIS poll, Censor.NET reports.

"More Ukrainians want to see Ukraine in NATO first (46%) than in the EU (22%). That is, although membership in both alliances is important for the majority of the population, the priority is NATO (obviously, because of the urgent demand of Ukrainians to have reliable security guarantees)," sociologists note.

At the same time, over the past year, the number of those who say that membership in any alliance should not be a priority has increased (12% in October 2023 and 22% in December 2024). On the other hand, there are fewer people who say NATO membership (54% before and 46% now) (for the EU, the figures have hardly changed).
