Lowering the mobilization age: Fediienko says the Rada is not considering it

Currently, the Verkhovna Rada has no legislative initiatives to lower the mobilization age in Ukraine.

This was stated by a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Servant of the People People's Deputy Oleksandr Fediienko, Censor.NET reports.

The Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence is not currently considering any legislative initiative to change the age category of the mobilization resource - that is, 18, 19, 20, and so on. The Parliament has not received any such initiatives either," he noted.

According to him, deputies are not ready to vote for such an initiative.

"Partners must fulfill their partnership promises. If our partners promised to give us weapons, they must give us these weapons," emphasized Fediienko.

The deputy noted that Ukraine has reserve brigades that are ready to go to the front line.

"Of course, they need to be equipped with additional weapons, and on the other hand, we need permission from our partners to use appropriate long-range weapons to dominate the air," the deputy added.

Earlier, the State Department said that if the mobilization age in Ukraine is lowered to 18, the United States and its allies are ready to provide equipment to Ukrainian conscripts.

US President Joe Biden's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said that Ukraine should decide to lower the mobilization age to 18, but that it was Kyiv's sovereign decision.

Mike Volz, National Security Advisor to US President-elect Donald Trump, also said that Ukraine faces a serious shortage of human resources because the conscription age is not 18.
