European Union countries should take their NATO commitments seriously and increase defense spending.

This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Warsaw,Ukrinform reports, Censor.NET reports.

"We all have to agree with President Trump on one thing - no one will solve our security problems for us. If all European countries start to take their NATO commitments seriously, I am sure America will be happy to cooperate with us if they see that we are a serious partner," Tusk said.

He noted that "you can't wait for someone, you can't pray to someone for your own security."

"We have to do it ourselves and take matters into our own hands, and then our partners will seek cooperation with us," Tusk said.

The Polish prime minister is convinced that some countries' allocation of 1-2% of GDP for defense is insufficient. He noted that Warsaw allocates 4.7% of GDP to defense and added that other European countries "should start to look up to Poland."

"I have no doubt that if European countries fulfill their duty, then perhaps Washington's optics will also change," Tusk said.
