About 60 residents still remain in the city of Toretsk, Donetsk region. Due to active urban fighting, they can only be evacuated at night.

The head of the Toretsk city military administration Vasyl Chynchyk said this on Suspilne TV channel, Censor.NET reports.

According to the official, the remaining people live in shelters.

"There are about 60 people left in the city. These are mostly elderly people who refuse to leave, and in general, about 250 people remain in the community. These are people who categorically refused to evacuate Toretsk and the community. People do not respond to persuasion. The military, the military administration, the National Police, and the State Emergency Service have been making every effort to get these people out of the combat zone, risking their own lives," said Chynchyk.

According to the head of the CMA, evacuation from the city is possible only with the help of the military. They enter the city when there is fog, poor visibility or at night.

"Unfortunately, we don't have the same opportunity as we had six months ago. We have to use night-time and difficult weather conditions to get to the territory of the Toretsk community and deliver food. At present, the evacuation of those who need to leave takes place at night. We are grateful to the military," the official said.

Chynchyk added that since June 2024, when the occupiers launched a massive offensive in the Toretsk sector of the frontline, about 10,000 people, including more than 100 children, have been evacuated from the city and the community.

Earlier, Vasyl Chynchyk, head of the Toretsk City Military Administration, said that Russian troops are trying to capture Toretsk in the Donetsk region and that the battle for the Toretska mine is ongoing.
