This year, Ukraine plans to restore about 3 GW of thermal and hydropower capacities that were damaged by Russian attacks.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this during a government meeting, Censor.NET reports.

"Ukraine has already crossed the equator of winter and the heating season. We are passing it successfully," the prime minister emphasized.

Shmyhal emphasized that in 2024, about 4 GW of capacity had already been restored, and the goal for 2025 was to restore about 3 GW more. This year, the focus will be not only on repairing damaged facilities but also on developing new energy projects.

"At the same time, we continue to build new facilities and develop distributed generation, which meets local needs and creates a system that is less vulnerable to attacks. According to the Ministry of Energy, in 2024, 233 generating units with an installed capacity of more than 830 MW were connected," Shmyhal said.

For 2025, the government has set a target of providing almost 900 MW of distributed generation capacity, which will meet local needs and reduce the vulnerability of the power system to attacks.

Shmyhal also thanked international partners for the equipment and financial assistance that made these projects possible.
