Authorities should act responsibly and not jeopardize army’s combat capability - UDAR responds to prosecution of Armed Forces officers
The detention of generals and attempts to shift the responsibility for the failures in the war onto them sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the combat capability of our army. The government should support the defenders, not engage in politically motivated persecution.
This is stated in the statement of the political party "Vitalii Klytschko's UDAR", which is posted on the party's website, Censor.NET reports.
"In an attempt to shift the responsibility for the miscalculations in the war, the government has no right to use the worst methods. The detention of generals sets a dangerous precedent. This is a direct threat to the army's ability to resist the enemy," UDAR said in a statement.
This is how UDAR reacted to the detention of the generals on charges of failing to defend Kharkiv region.
The party notes that civilian courts should not investigate cases against the military. This should be done by specialized military justice bodies.
"Such systems have been operating in NATO countries for a long time. But in Ukraine, the authorities are blocking the creation of military justice, despite the urgent need for its introduction. The central government must finally stop delaying the reform of military justice and provide the army with the necessary tools to protect not only our country but also the military themselves from politically motivated persecution," UDAR emphasized.
Today, Ukraine needs unity, trust and support of its defenders as never before, Vitalii Klitschko's UDAR emphasized.
"Ukraine needs support for its defenders, not judgment over them. The government should finally start acting responsibly and take into account the consequences of its decisions for national security. Ukraine will win, but only when every soldier knows that they are valued, protected and their actions are fairly evaluated. When they feel united and see the government not as an enemy but as a partner," the statement reads.
Earlier it was reported that the SSU and the SBI detained three generals who were responsible for the defense of Kharkiv region during the Russian offensive in 2024. It also became known about the detention of the former commander of the 155th Brigade, allegedly for not responding to the AWOL of soldiers.
