Zelenskyy appoints Drapatyi as commander of OSGT "Khortytsia". VIDEO
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi as commander of the "Khortytsia" Operational and Strategic Group of Forces.
The head of state said this in an evening video address, Censor.NET reports.
"Today, I have instructed to strengthen the command of our troops in Donetsk region – Major General Mykhailo Drapaty has been sent to lead the "Khortytsia" operational and strategic group of troops. These are the most violent areas of fighting," Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that at the same time, Drapatyi will retain the powers of the Commander of the Land Forces, the largest part of our Armed Forces.
"This will help to combine the combat work of the army with proper training of brigades. It is the frontline needs that should determine the standards of manning and training of brigades," the President stressed.
The day before, Censor.NET editor-in-chief Yurii Butusov reported that the president was planning to appoint Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, the current commander of the Land Forces of the AFU, as commander of the "Khortytsia" Operational and Strategic Grouping of Troops.
