UK to provide Ukraine with $2.4bn for air defence, missiles and repair bases - Shmyhal
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved and sent to the Verkhovna Rada a bill to ratify the Framework Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom on strengthening the country's defence capabilities.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting, Censor.NET reports.
"Under this agreement, the UK will provide us with up to £2 billion ($2.4 billion) for the purchase of air defence systems, air defence missiles, as well as for the organisation of repair bases for military equipment and other weapons," Shmyhal said.
The Prime Minister stressed that this will significantly enhance the defence capability of the state and help strengthen the system of protection of the Ukrainian sky.
"We are grateful to the government and people of the United Kingdom for supporting us on the way to our victory," the Prime Minister added.
Earlier it was reported that this year the government would allocate UAH 6.2 billion from the state budget to equip shelters in schools.
