Number of mine action operators in Ukraine has increased to 80 - Ministry of Economy

In Ukraine, the number of mine action operators has increased to 80 mine action operators, while at the beginning of 2023 there were only 28.
This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy Ihor Bezkaravaynyi, Censor.NET reports.
This result was achieved thanks to a pilot project in which the certification of operators was carried out at twice the pace.
"This means that our efforts are having the desired effect. Now we have to analyze in detail how everything works, what we can improve, so that at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year, we can turn the project from an experimental project into a permanent one," Bezkaravaynyi said.
The meeting of the interagency working group on humanitarian demining also discussed:
- a pilot project for the certification of mechanized demining equipment (in 2023, only 1 certificate was issued, and in 2024 - 16)
- creation of a working group to develop technical regulations for the certification of demining machines and equipment;
- increasing the number of specialists for inspection of the cleared areas;
- launching an automated model for prioritizing demining.
