Under the procedural supervision of the Lubny District Prosecutor's Office, two residents of Lubny and Poltava were served a notice of suspicion of murdering a serviceman at a petrol station.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press centre of the Prosecutor General's Office.
As noted, one is charged with obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period, intentional murder and theft of firearms, combined with violence (Article 114-1, part 1, Article 115, part 1, Article 262, part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
The other one is charged with aiding and abetting the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the special period (Article 27(5)(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
What did the investigation find?
According to the investigation, on 31 January this year, a resident of Poltava, together with other mobilised persons, accompanied by servicemen of the Poltava Regional Military and Civilian Training Centre, was travelling to a military unit for training. Intending to evade military service, he called his friend from Lubny several times and told him the route of the bus. When the bus stopped at a petrol station in Pyriatyn, the Lubny resident shot at one of the accompanying persons with a rifle he had brought with him, causing the soldier a gunshot wound incompatible with life. He then took possession of the victim's assault rifle and fled the scene with his accomplice.
The suspects were detained a few hours later. During the search, law enforcement officers seized two cases of hand grenades, a hunting rifle, ammunition, a balaclava, mobile phones, etc. The physical evidence was sent for examination. The soldier's assault rifle was found in a forest plantation where the suspects had left it.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is ongoing. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.
Earlier, Censor.NET reported that on 1 February 2025, a serviceman of the TCR, who was accompanying the mobilised, was shot dead at a petrol station in Pyriatyn. The attacker was later detained.
