Scholz on Trump’s statement

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has criticised Donald Trump's demand that Ukraine supply rare earth metals to the US in exchange for continued support.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the German media outlet NTV.

The German chancellor condemns Trump's proposal to link further defence aid to the rights of access to Ukraine's valuable raw materials. According to him, it would be very selfish to use the country's resources to finance defence support.

"It is about Ukraine being able to finance its reconstruction. This is a big task, given the huge destruction. Therefore, the country's resources should be used to finance everything that will be needed after the war," the newspaper quoted Scholz as saying.

The day before, US President Donald Trump said he was trying to find a way to exchange Ukraine's rare earth metals for US aid.
