Destruction of rare Russian reconnaissance UAV "Merlin-VR" using anti-aircraft drone. VIDEO
A kamikaze anti-aircraft drone operator from the 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade destroyed a Russian experimental reconnaissance UAV Merlin-VR.
According to Censor.NET, a video of the Ukrainian soldier's successful combat work was posted on social media. In the video, a moment before the attack, the shadow of a Ukrainian drone and the inscriptions "3 AK" and "3 AK 85 Br" can be seen on the enemy drone.
"Another rare Russian reconnaissance UAV has been shot down. The soldiers of the Horizon group 81st SAB shot down an enemy reconnaissance drone Merlin-BP in our sky," the video caption reads.
"Merlin-VR is a Russian experimental unmanned aerial vehicle. It is designed to conduct terrain reconnaissance in automatic and semi-automatic modes. The developer claims that the device has a hybrid engine, which gives "little acoustic signature". However, in the drone shot down by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in early June 2022 during the Russian aggression against Ukraine, no hybrid technology was found in the drone, only a conventional engine. The drone was also equipped with French-made thermal imaging optics Lynred (Ulis) PICO1024 and a regular plastic canister with a handle as a fuel tank.
