If Ukraine is not accepted into NATO, nuclear weapons must be returned, - Zelenskyy
If Ukraine does not become a member of NATO, it needs to return its nuclear weapons to ensure its security.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with British host Piers Morgan, Censor.NET reports.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine's accession to NATO could take "years or decades," and in this case, "a completely fair question arises: what will protect us from this evil all this time, all along the way?"
"What support package, what missiles? Will they give us nuclear weapons? Then let them give us nuclear weapons," the president emphasized.
He admitted that the West can provide Ukraine with missiles to deter Russia, but whether they can stop Russian nuclear missiles is "a rhetorical question."
"Therefore, let's do this: give us back our nuclear weapons; give us missile systems; partners, help us finance a million-strong army, transfer your contingent to those parts of our country where we want the situation to be stable, so that people are calm," the head of state described a hypothetical situation.
He also emphasized that if Russia's attack was explained by the fear of Ukraine's membership in NATO, then if the country is not in the Alliance, "Putin must completely retreat from our territory." "He (Putin - Ed.) invaded because he was afraid that we would become NATO members. Well, we are not NATO members. Get off our land."
