Ukraine to allocate record UAH 739 billion for weapons production and procurement in 2025 – Shmyhal
The Ukrainian government has planned a record budget of UAH 739 billion for weapons production and procurement programs in 2025.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal in a telegram, Censor.NET reports.
"Almost all internal resources of the state budget are spent on defense and security. This year we have a record budget for the program of production and purchase of weapons. We are talking about at least UAH 739 billion. We are focusing on the purchase of Ukrainian weapons. We invest state resources in this and support the private sector," Shmyhal wrote.
According to him, one of the main requests of defense companies is the introduction of long-term contracts for the production of weapons and ammunition. The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Strategic Industries have received the relevant order.
Shmyhal also reminded that the first three-year contracts for arms production were signed last year.
"The first three-year contracts were signed last year. We set a goal in 2025 to make three- and five-year contracts the norm for arms and military equipment manufacturers," the Prime Minister said.
