Ukraine agrees to transfer $500bn worth of rare earth minerals to US - Trump
Ukraine is ready to provide the United States with rare earth minerals worth $500 billion in military aid.
According to Censor.NET, this was stated by US President Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News.
He stressed that he perceives this as payment for the military assistance that Washington has provided to Kyiv. At the same time, he stressed that the United States should have access to Ukraine's natural resources, regardless of whether Kyiv manages to reach a peace agreement with the Kremlin.
"They have very valuable land in terms of soil, oil, gas and so on. I want our money to be safe, because we are spending hundreds of billions of dollars [to help Ukraine]. You know, they may make a deal, they may not make a deal; they may or may not become Russia someday. But we will have all this money. I say I want it back. I told them I want the equivalent of $500 billion in rare earth metals. And they essentially agreed to that so that we don't feel like fools. Otherwise, we are fools. I told them that we have to get something. We can't keep paying this money," Trump said.
In Trump's view, it would be foolish to continue to provide aid to Ukraine for nothing.
As a reminder, Trump recently said that he wants to sign a $500 million deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on access to rare earth resources and natural gas in Ukraine in exchange for security guarantees in any potential peace settlement.
