Poroshenko on sanctions: Government has entered election mode. VIDEO
The fifth President of Ukraine, leader of the "European Solidarity" party, Petro Poroshenko, commented on the NSDC's decision to impose sanctions on him.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the "ES" press service.
"This was not news to me. I had all the information about the preparation of this provocation, but I believed to the last that common sense would prevail. But it was not common sense that won out. The National Security and Defence Council has just made an unconstitutional, politically motivated decision to impose sanctions with absolutely illegal restrictions on me, Petro Poroshenko as the leader of the opposition and the fifth President.
There are many accomplices in this crime: Zelenskyy's entire team, the Cabinet of Ministers, which was "bent" to the absurd submission, and members of his National Security and Defence Council who quietly raised their hands.
But there is only one customer, executor and signatory - Zelenskyy himself. Just imagine: today, instead of preparing for crucial talks with Trump, the US Treasury Secretary, and a number of world leaders, including the US Vice President, at the Munich Conference, he spent the whole day dealing with sanctions against my humble person.
He has already "defeated" Putin, strengthened the international coalition, provided the army with everything it needs, overcome corruption and is looking for somewhere else to apply his outstanding military talents, opening a second front against the state, starting internal political purges.
Today, Zelenskyy has dealt a huge blow to the internal unity that our team has been strictly adhering to since February 2022 and which is our main weapon in the fight against the aggressor.
All responsibility for the negative consequences lies directly with him. Responsibility for the fact that for the first three years of his presidency he completely ignored the problems of the army, because "otherwise there would be nothing to build roads for". He is responsible for ignoring all the intelligence of the allies about the imminent invasion for five months before the invasion, for not preparing for the war himself, for not preparing the army and the country, for hiding information from the people about the safety of everyone.
Responsibility for corruption during the war, corruption in conditions when the military is critically lacking in equipment to fight and defend our land. Corruption on the basis of great blood.
He is looking for someone to blame for his tragic mistakes. That's why he launched a campaign of accusations against our Western partners. That's why he ordered the imprisonment of military commanders. And here, without Poroshenko, there is no way.
The end of the sixth year of the presidency is the time to answer for yourself, not to blame everything on your predecessor. There are more than enough questions. And have no doubt: the Ukrainian people will ask all of them.
What's next?
The answer is obvious. We need to save the state! That is why we need unity around the Armed Forces in the first place. Tomorrow I am bringing another batch of aid. What upsets me the most? If the sanctions make it much more difficult for my Foundation to help the Ukrainian Army, a cause that our team has been living for all three years of the great war. I don't want to talk about money today. However, we have already delivered 50,000 drones alone. And the government has other priorities.
I will not give up in the fight for a European democratic Ukraine. Our team will not give up, no one and nothing will make us change my position. This is revenge for the fact that we are the only ones who are not afraid to tell the truth and call a spade a spade.
But it's not about me.
While millions of Ukrainians are fighting off Russian aggression along thousands of kilometres of frontline, in the deep rear, a handful of rulers, parasitising on martial law, are building an authoritarian political regime in Ukraine similar to the one Putin built in Russia.
That is why my second disappointment and concern is how this demonstrative cleansing of the political field will affect European integration. We will still have to defend democracy, the rule of law and Ukraine's compliance with EU membership standards.
That's why I have recently returned from a business trip abroad, even though everyone warned me that the government had lost its mind, that sanctions and new suspicions were coming, and that it was better for me to stay abroad. This is a very bad déjà vu: when a couple of weeks before the great invasion, the authorities were dealing with Poroshenko. And in three years of the great war, when they were supposed to be wiser, the same thing happened.
But I have to be here, now, with my country and fight against those who question its European future and its struggle in the war against the Russian aggressor.
Why do they do it? Hatred, fear and revenge. And because they have elections. Not in our country. The authorities have.
Thus, it is significant that Poroshenko was recognised as a terrorist and extremist by the court of Vladimir Putin. Now his wording has been repeated almost verbatim by Zelenskyy's NSDC," Poroshenko said.
