Ukraine did not know anything about talks in Saudi Arabia and will not recognize their agreements - Zelenskyy
Ukraine did not know anything about the talks between the Russian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia, which are to take place tomorrow.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this from Abu Dhabi during an online press conference with Ukrainian journalists, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
At the same time, according to the president, Ukraine will not recognize any results of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, which will take place without Ukraine.
"Ukraine will not take it. Ukraine knew nothing about it. And Ukraine regards any negotiations about Ukraine without Ukraine as having no results. We cannot recognize any things or agreements about us without us. And we will not recognize such agreements. There is probably a bilateral track there. And the US has the right to do so if they have bilateral issues. To be honest, they had been talking about this before. Only now have they started talking publicly. Back then, it was like a mauvais - to talk to the aggressor in times of war," Zelenskyy said.
The Head of State also emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation would pay an official visit to Saudi Arabia.
"As for us, we have the UAE and an official visit to Saudi Arabia. Journalists and everyone understands that the status of "official visit" is not obtained in a day or three. It is simply impossible. I made a lot of different visits during the war, but this is an official status. The relevant documents were prepared and so on. Therefore, it has nothing to do with the things that are happening in Saudi Arabia at the level of representatives of the United States and the Russian Federation. Of course, I will ask His Excellency Mohammed (Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia - Ed.) when I am in Saudi Arabia what he knows about this. I'm just curious," Zelenskyy added.
Earlier, Censor.NET reported that Lavrov and Ushakov were flying to Saudi Arabia for talks with US representatives.
Meeting in Saudi Arabia
As a reminder, on February 12, 2025, Trump said that his meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin would likely take place in Saudi Arabia.
Trump also said that a meeting between representatives of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia would take place in Saudi Arabia next week.
On February 14, the Saudi Foreign Ministry announced that the Kingdom was ready to host a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
The meeting of the US and Russian delegations in Saudi Arabia will take place on February 18, Axios reports.
