Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov says that Russia does not deny Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

His words are quoted by the Russian "Interfax" news agency, Censor.NET reports.

"Russia considers it a sovereign right of any state to join the European Union, including Ukraine, as it is an economic union," Peskov said.

At the same time, he stressed that Moscow has a different position on countries joining military and defence alliances.

"But we have a completely different position, of course, on security-related issues, on defence and military alliances. We have a different approach there, and it is well known to everyone," the Kremlin spokesman added.

Earlier, Peskov said that dictator Putin was ready to hold talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
