European security guarantees for Ukraine will require US support — Rutte

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said that any European security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a potential peace deal with Russia must be backed by the United States.
He said this during his visit to Slovakia, Barron's writes, Censor.NET reports.
"Reliable security guarantees, if provided by European countries, need the support of the United States, not with ground forces, but in general we still need the support of the United States to make sure that deterrence (of Russia - ed.) is present," the Alliance Secretary General said.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine wants to receive security guarantees from the United States, Europe and Turkey.
