As noted, Macron received the new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the Elysee Palace. They discussed Ukraine, including the fact that Canada and France will continue to demand "clear commitments" from Russia.
"The goal of this joint commitment with the Ukrainians has always been to achieve a strong and lasting country, with credible guarantees that will protect Ukraine from any new Russian aggression and ensure the security of all of Europe," he added.
At the same time, Carney assured that Canada wants to strengthen its ties with "strong allies like France."
"Canada will always be there to ensure Europe's security and commercial ties," he concluded.
