13,000 Soviet state standards abolished in Ukraine, - Deputy Economy Minister Nefiodov

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine has canceled almost 13,000 Soviet state standards which had been developed before 1992.
As reported by Censor.NET, Deputy Economy Minister Maksym Nefiodov announced it on Facebook.
"Ukrainian Scientific-Research and Educational Center of Standardization, Certification and Problems of Quality SE has finally succeeded in cancellation of nearly 13,000 GOSTs [Soviet era state standards - ed.]. This is a difficult but important step, by which Ukraine breaks up with its Soviet past and moves toward Europe. No wonder Russia insisted on their keeping until 2025 during tripartite negotiations in Brussels. The standards are a kind of technical language, and until we master the language of the developed world, we are destined to stay part of the "Soviet people"," he wrote.
"What's next? We need to develop and adopt international standards if the business needs them. Some standards are indispensable and should be developed by state. All others are the result of innovations and creativity of market participants, scientists, and entrepreneurs. The state is excluded from the process, all work is handed over to technical committees and national standards body," Nefiodov concluded.
