Ukrainian detained in Crimea on "banned" books possession charges

At Dzhankoi checkpoint in occupied Crimea, Russian border guards detained a 34-year-old Ukrainian citizen carrying allegedly extremist books.
As reported by Censor.NET citing Liga, this was reported by Russia's FSB Border Service department in Russia-annexed Crimea.
"A book with collection of extremist lectures was found in the belongings of a 34-year-old man travelling as passenger in a Fiat," the statement reads.
In addition, the passenger is also said to have carried a 2011 book allegedly being on the list of literature banned in the territory of Russia.
"The fact is being investigated by law enforcement authorities," the occupying country's border guards stated.
Ukraine's State Border Guard Service spokesman Oleh Slobodian, in turn, said he had heard nothing of the incident.
"We have no relations with the occupants, and any exchange of information between us is out of question," Slobodian explained.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially announced Feb. 20, 2014 the date of the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea by Russia. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the relevant law on Oct. 7, 2015. Western countries did not recognize the annexation of Crimea and imposed economic sanctions against the Russian Federation and the Crimea-occupying authorities. Russia denies the occupation of the peninsula, calling it the "reinstatement of historical truth."
