Ukrainian MP Nadiia Savchenko, member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, said at the assembly session that she had recently visited the occupied territory of the Donbas and met with people who had held her captive two years ago.
Censor.NET reports referring to 24 Channel.
"We are having hard time fighting the enemy that doesn't want to leave us alone. [I address - ed.] all those who want to understand and know what is happening in the occupied part of the Donbas, where I traveled quite recently. I met with people, my recent captors. They have understood what Russia is and what they are dealing with," Savchenko remarked.
According to her, about 70 percent of people, including those who held her captive, regret they have taken up arms and would like to return to Ukraine, but it is not that easy.
"Because each military unit of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" is commanded by a Russian officer and people join the military service as the occupied territory is stricken with poverty and they have to enroll in the Russian army to earn 15,000 rubles ($222 per month - ed.)," Savchenko explained.
