Minimum five helicopters hit at Luhansk airfield - social media. PHOTOS
Satellite images in support of this were published on the social network X (formerly Twitter) by the user Tatarigami_UA, who calls himself a Ukrainian officer in the reserve, Censor.NET reports.
"Visuals from Planet Labs imagery in our possession show that at least 5 helicopters have sustained varying degrees of damage. There is a possibility that other airfield vehicles were also damaged, but the current resolution makes it difficult to confirm," he wrote.
According to @Tatarigami_UA, images from 18 October show traces of explosions.
These traces are new, as they were not visible in the images from 10 October.
"The affected area is large and there appears to be a crater. However, we cannot confirm whether this was solely the result of a missile strike, helicopter detonation or a combination of both," @Tatarigami_UA writes.
At the same time, as the author of the publication notes, many helicopters continue to park at the airfield, just like at the ATACMS-affected airfield in occupied Berdiansk.
"As a result, the attacks on both Berdiansk and Luhansk were successful, despite the fact that they were protected by different air defence systems," he added.
As a reminder, on the morning of 17 October, the Armed Forces of Ukraine's StratCom reported that the Defence Forces had successfully attacked helicopters and equipment at Russian occupation forces' airfields nearoccupied Luhansk and Berdiansk at night. On the same day, the Special Operations Forces stated that nine helicopters, an air defence launcher and an ammunition depot were destroyed during the strikes.
