On 28 October, a member of the Ukrainian national rowing team of 2016-2024, Danyil Yegorov, died near the village of New York, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Rowing Federation.
He was born on 16 February 2000 in the village of Matviivka, Vilnianskyi district, Zaporizhzhia region. Danyil Yehorov is a bronze medallist at the 2017 European Junior Championships and a silver medallist at the 2019 European Under-23 Championships.
He started rowing in Zaporizhzhia region with coach Volodymyr Haponenko, and later represented Mykolaiv region.
He studied at the Mykolaiv Higher School of Physical Culture and National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov.
"Under the guidance of coach Pavlo Pryshutov, until the last day, I still planned and dreamed of winning the Ukrainian championships and representing Ukraine at the European and world championships," the statement said.
From the first day of the invasion, Danyil Yehorov fought in the hottest areas of the frontline, serving in the "Azov" Regiment.
He was awarded the honorary badges of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Golden Cross" (06.09.2023) and "For Saving Life" (30.01.2024).
He died in the battle for Ukraine on 28 October 2024 near the village of New York, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.
