On 19 November, 24-year-old Georgian volunteer Levan Lokhishvili was killed in a homemade drone explosion in Kherson region.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by Echo of the Caucasus.
The death of the volunteer from Georgia was reported by his fellow soldier, Alexander Rogava.
Lokhishvili was a serviceman of the third company of the 220th battalion of the 126th separate TRO brigade in Odesa. This group consists mainly of volunteers. He arrived in Ukraine on 29 March 2022. Before coming to Ukraine, he worked as a cook.
A year later, Levan returned to Georgia for a while, but in the spring of 2024, he decided to return to Ukraine.
"Levan did his compulsory military service only in Georgia. The rest of his military experience was gained in Ukraine. Here he took preparatory courses. He completed all the tasks we gave him at the training ground in five minutes like a professional soldier. He was a very intelligent and responsible person," Rogava noted.
According to News Georgia, Levan was the brother of Georgian influencer Tamaz Lokhishvili. Following reports of his death, Tamaz posted a childhood photo of Levan on Facebook, writing: "You didn't deserve such a bitter death, brother."
The body of the deceased soldier is to be delivered to Georgia in the coming days.
According to the publication, several hundred (according to unofficial information, up to 2,000) Georgian volunteers have been fighting in Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale war. They are enrolled in various battalions and take part in combat operations on the front line. Since February 2022, 74 Georgian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine so far.
