Ukraine launches first ATACMS missile attack on airfield in Kursk region - media. VIDEO
OSINT analysts claim that the Ukrainian Defence Forces have struck a military airfield in the Kursk region with US long-range ATACMS ballistic missiles.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by "Militarnyi" with reference to the Ukrainian project "Cyberboroshno".
It is alleged that on the night of 25 November, Ukrainian missile forces struck the Russian tactical airfield "Kursk-Vostochny" with US ATACMS ballistic missiles.
The project posted a video on its channel showing the detonation of submunitions of two M39 missiles with cluster warheads at the airport.
Analysts have geolocated the approximate areas of impact. They fall within the parking lot of aviation equipment, including combat aircraft. It is currently unknown whether they were stationed there at the time of the strike.
Bloggers affiliated with the Russian military aviation also confirmed the ballistic missile strike. In particular, the well-known propagandist Ilya Tumanov, who is the author of the Fighterbomber channel, claims that eight missiles were launched.
According to him, the air defence systems of the airfield were able to work on only seven missiles, stressing that this term means only an attempt to intercept, not shoot down.
No one from the Ukrainian government or military leadership has officially commented on this information.
Earlier, Censor.NET reported that ATACMS missiles destroyed an air defence system in Kursk region and killed 4 Russian military personnel.
Explosions in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation
Earlier it was reported that on the night of 19 November, the 67th arsenal of the Russian GRAU was hit in Bryansk region, and in Rostov region, local authorities reported a drone attack. Later, the General Staff officially confirmed that an ammunition depot in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation had been hit.
Censor.NET editor-in-chief Yurii Butusov said that after Biden's permission, for the first time in history, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a military facility in Russia with US-made ATACMS ballistic missiles.
The Russian Defence Ministry reported that on Tuesday at 3:25 am, Ukraine allegedly fired six ballistic missiles at a facility in Bryansk. It specified that US-made ATACMS missiles were used in the attack.
Authorisation for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation
As a reminder, current US President Joe Biden has allowed Ukraine to fire long-range ATACMS missiles at Russian territory.
CNN noted that Biden's permission to fire long-range missiles at Russia would complicate Trump's plans for a truce.
Axios writes that Biden's lifting of restrictions on long-range strikes applies only to the Kursk region of Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Ukraine's use of long-range ATACMS missiles to attack Russian territory would mean "direct participation of the United States and its satellites in hostilities against Russia".
On 19 November, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the United States had authorised Ukraine to strike Russian territory with ATACMS ballistic missiles. However, he refused to confirm or deny the attack on the Bryansk region of Russia.
