On the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the defenders of Ukraine.

"Respect. Gratitude. Honour. This is what our people feel when it comes to you. When our people hear about you, see you see how you destroy the enemy, its missiles, its drones, its bases, its impudence. They see you defending Ukraine.
Respect. Gratitude. Honour. And goosebumps. When we say: "Glory to Ukraine!" and answer: "Glory to the Heroes!" Because we know who we are talking about. We know who our heroes are - real, brave, worthy. Those about whom we say the best things. Those who have a holiday on 6 December. Because it is your day - the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Day of the Ukrainian Warrior," the Head of State stressed.
In particular, Zelenskyy noted those who were civilians and stood up to defend their homeland.
"Ukrainians of different ages, different professions, from different regions. Everyone who lived their own lives. But they turned it around 180 degrees. They had a different profession but did not want to live under another flag. Someone said: "I can't do otherwise". Someone said: "Who else but me?" And someone said nothing. He just looked at his children. He hugged them tightly, kissed them, left the house, and stood up to defend the country.
And at that moment, we had no Hymars, no Petriots, no F-16s, no many things, but we had you. Ukrainian soldiers. Those who chose Ukraine. Those who chose to defend their own. The native. Your hometown, village, street, house, your family. And you have been doing it for 1000 days. Taking up arms. The fate of our country. And you hold it firmly and steadily for more than 1,000 days," he said.
The President thanked each and every person who defends Ukraine from the Russian aggressor.
Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Every year on 6 December, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Armed Forces. The holiday was established in honor of the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On the Armed Forces of Ukraine" in 1991.
The Armed Forces Day traditionally sees celebrations, awards for the military, and a minute's silence in memory of the fallen soldiers.
