Ukrainian gunsmiths have enhanced the firepower of the M113 armoured personnel carrier that the Defence Forces are receiving as part of international assistance. They produced a Tavria 14.5/7.62 remote-controlled module and installed it on the armour of the APC.
According to Censor.NET, citing the Ministry of Defence, this was reported by the Main Directorate for the Life Cycle Support of Weapons and Military Equipment.
"Thanks to the new module, which consists of two 14.5 mm and 7.62 mm machine guns, the gunner can now fire from inside the armoured vehicle, watching the battlefield through a monitor," said Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.
The M113's main weapon was reportedly a 12.7 mm machine gun. The machine gunner was working on targets from a poorly protected position on the armour.
