Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets met with Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova in Belarus with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
This was reported by Lubinets, Censor.NET reports.
According to the Ombudsman, as a result of interaction with the Russian side, parcels and letters for prisoners of war were exchanged, lists were transferred and verified, and bodies were repatriated.
"On the eve of Christmas, we have good news for the families of prisoners of war and illegally detained civilians. With the assistance of the ICRC, I met with the Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova on the territory of the Republic of Belarus," the statement said.
Results of the meeting:
- We handed over the lists of POWs discussed their verification, and the lists of illegally detained civilians.
- We exchanged parcels and letters for prisoners of war. We handed over 1,500 packages of warm clothes and other necessary items.
- The bodies of the fallen soldiers were repatriated.
Lubinets also said that the parties discussed ways of further cooperation to return prisoners of war, civilians and resolve humanitarian issues.
