Russian servicemen Ivan Polin and Maxim Kuznetsov were served with a notice of suspicion of committing a war crime, namely the murder of a civilian resident of Bucha, Ihor Paliyenko, during the occupation of the city.

Both suspects are servicemen of the 6th Air Assault Company of the 2nd Battalion Tactical Group of the 234th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Division of the Russian Armed Forces.

Private Ivan Polin is a native of Rubtsovsk, Altai Krai, and Lieutenant Maxim Kuznetsov is from Slepnevo village, Kuninsky district, Pskov region, the website of the Prosecutor General's Office says.

According to the National Police investigation, during the occupation of Bucha, members of the Russian armed forces carried out so-called "patrols" of the streets. And on 6 March 2022, they, together with other occupants, who have not yet been identified, shot a local resident with machine guns who had gone to a local supermarket that day in search of food, and when he returned, they saw him on Vokzalna Street. Although it was around noon and it was clear that the man was unarmed, they started shooting at him. He received four gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

The Russian servicemen were served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Article 28, Part 2 Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
