The National Police exposed a Russian agent who coordinated arson attacks on law enforcement vehicles from prison.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Communications Department of the National Police.

As noted, the prisoner was looking for people to set fire to police and military vehicles in Lviv on the order of alleged Russian criminals. The SBI operatives and investigators of the Lviv police worked proactively and prevented the real crime.

"In Lviv, SSU operatives and regional police officers managed to disrupt the enemy's plans to destabilise the situation in the region and prevented brazen arson attacks on police and military vehicles. This time, Russian representatives decided to act through a resident of the Zaporizhzhia region, a prisoner of a Lviv penitentiary institution," the statement said.

According to intelligence, an unknown person contacted the man via messenger, introduced himself as a Russian criminal and offered to "pull off" a case. In exchange for money, the man was offered to organise the arson of several law enforcement and military vehicles.

The prisoner agreed to the "colleague's" proposal and started to implement the order. The offender found a direct contractor, gave him clear instructions on how to choose a car and discussed the amount of the "fee" with him. He also demanded to film the arson for a report to the Russian customer.

Law enforcers faked an arson attack

According to the National Police, operatives of the Lviv Department of the Internal Security Department, together with investigators of the Investigation Department of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv region, conducted a special operation and prevented a real crime by simulating arson. In addition, the police managed to establish a complete scheme, from the moment of receiving the order to commit the crime to the future payment for its commission.

Earlier, Censor.NET reported that last year, 352 car arsons were committed in Ukraine, the vast majority of them ordered by the Russian special services. According to the National Police, in 2024, 179 arsonists were detained who were recruited by Russian special services through Telegram channels.
