A 29-year-old employee of the RTCR and SS in Odesa was detained for taking a bribe. In return for money, he removed men from the wanted list.

This was reported by the Department of Communication of the National Police of Odesa Region, Censor.NET informs.

"A 29-year-old soldier from one of Odesa's district recruitment and social support centres was spreading information among his friends that in return for a monetary reward he could influence RTCR and SS officials and help men liable for military service to avoid mobilisation into the Armed Forces," the statement said.

It was documented how a serviceman promised two men of military age to help them withdraw their "wanted" status. The "service" cost $500 for one client from Odesa, and twice as much for the second, who was registered in the region.

He was detained while receiving money from an Odesa resident. Law enforcement officers seized $500, a mobile phone, documentation and other items of interest to the investigation.

He was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely, obtaining an unlawful benefit for influencing the decision-making of a person authorised to perform state functions, combined with extortion of unlawful benefit. At the request of the investigators, the court imposed on the suspect a custodial measure of restraint with the right to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 242,240.

He faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
