Law enforcers detained three persons suspected of stealing the Apostol, a rare book kept in Vernadskyi National Library in Kyiv.
Spokesperson for Kyiv's Prosecutor Office Nadiia Maksymets wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
"Today, the law enforcement officers apprehended three persons supposedly involved in stealing the Apostol from Vernadskyi Library. The suspects were detained in a special operation in a restaurant on Saksahanskoho Street in Kyiv," she wrote.
Maksymets added that law enforcers seized a book that looked similar to the stolen copy of the Apostol.
The investigation continues.
The media reported on May 16, 2016 that the stolen book was the Lviv edition of the Apostol. However, library director Volodymyr Popyk refuted this information on the same day, providing no additional details. Officials confirmed May 17 that the stolen book had been published in Moscow.
