Ukrainian defenders managed not only to repel a massive mechanised attack by the occupiers near Tonenke in Donetsk region, but also destroyed two elite T-90 Proryv tanks.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Khortytsia military unit, Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshyn, on the air of the United News telethon, Censor.NET reports citing Armyinform.

"There were up to 50 vehicles and a large number of infantry. And the paratroopers, together with the ranger brigade, destroyed a lot of Russian equipment. In particular, they destroyed two very expensive T-90 Breakthrough tanks, which cost between $4 million and $5 million," Voloshyn said.

The spokesman added that massive assault operations in this area took place from 29 to 30 March.

"It was not just one day, and not just one assault. The occupiers repeatedly sent armored vehicles and infantry to the assault, supported by artillery and drones. Aviation was also used," noted Voloshyn.

He also said that the occupiers are continuing to try to storm Ukrainian positions in the Avdiivka and Bakhmut sectors.

On 30 March, the enemy attacked Tonenke near Avdiivka with 36 tanks and 12 armored personnel carriers. This is the largest assault with the use of military equipment since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The pilots of the Shadow aerial reconnaissance unit destroyed a Russian T-90M Proryv tank by precisely dropping a grenade from a drone into an open hatch.
