In Odesa region, border guards of the Izmail detachment found a man trying to leave for Moldova in a niche under a truck trailer container.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the State Border Guard Service.
A 39-year-old resident of the border area tried to transport a "passenger" to Moldova in a Renault truck by hiding him in a niche under the trailer container. The trucker put his fellow traveller on a beam under the trailer and drove to the "Tabaky" checkpoint.
The driver estimated the "ticket" abroad at $5,000, of which he received $2,000 as a deposit. During the search of the vehicle, these funds were found and seized.
The criminal proceedings were opened against the defendant under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine"). He faces a sentence of imprisonment for up to 9 years.
