Russian officer who ordered shooting of Bucha resident during occupation identified – National Police. VIDEO
The operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department identified the Russian officer who ordered the shooting of a civilian in Bucha during the occupation of Kyiv region.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the National Police.
In early March 2022, four unarmed civilians tried to leave the Russian-occupied town of Bucha in their own car. On the way to the Ukrainian-controlled territory, they were stopped by Russians who, threatening them with machine guns, unreasonably forced the driver to confess to involvement in passing information about the location of Russian army equipment and personnel to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Having failed to obtain a confession, the commander ordered his subordinate to shoot the driver of the car in the leg, which resulted in a perforating gunshot wound to the left shin and massive bleeding, causing him to lose consciousness.
Only his wife's plea not to kill him saved his life. To stop the bleeding, the woman applied a tourniquet made of shoe laces. The Russians robbed them and even took their food, before releasing them and allowing them to hide in a local church.
Police identified the Russian officer who ordered the shooting of the civilian. He was a 37-year-old deputy commander of the 1st Airborne Battalion of the 234th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Airborne Division of the Russian Armed Forces (military unit 74268).
National Police investigators have gathered enough evidence to serve him a notice of suspicion for violating the laws and customs of war committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Article 28(2)(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The defendant faces up to 12 years in prison.
