A short film about the war in Ukraine "Rock, Paper, Scissors" was recognised as the best in the "Best British Short Film" category at the British BAFTA Awards.

The short film "Rock, Paper, Scissors" was directed by German-born British director Franz Böhm. The film stars Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi in the title role. The film also features Ukrainian actors Serhii Kalantai, Yurii Radionov and Oleksandr Yatsenko.

What is the film about?

The film is based on real events that took place at the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine. The main character is 18-year-old Ivan. His father works as a surgeon and from the first days of the Russian full-scale invasion, he starts operating on wounded soldiers and civilians in a bunker. The Russian occupiers find out about this. In the story, the protagonist tries to protect the patients from the Russian invaders.

BAFTA is the British equivalent of "Oscar"

The BAFTA Award is an annual award presented by the British Academy of Television and Film Arts since 1955 for outstanding services to television. It is often referred to as the British equivalent of the "Oscar".

The award is considered one of the three most important awards in the film industry.
